L5. 13. A career I'm interested in - Teaching

I have always been interested in photography since i was young and i was always interested in teaching and so i came up for my report to base it on teaching photography in a college based environment, in which i did some work experience at Stockton Riverside College.

Teaching in a college based environment for 16+ or adult learners requires qualifications such a PGCE, QTS/QTLS as well as an understanding and qualification of what you are teaching for this case photography. You can get these qualifications form different university courses and can study for  PGCE in one year course.

Not only do you need qualifications when teaching but...

  • enthusiasm
  • knowledge and understanding of your subject
  • time management
  • organisation skills
  • creativity in planning lessons and materials
  • ability to relate and motivate learners of different abilities
  • Resilience and patience
if you did not want to take to manny responsibilities on you could train to be with a full or associate teacher, basically you would not have as much responsibility and very little involvement with creating the courses content and you are more likely to be delivering the information and materials. this qualification would be CTLLS know as the Certificate in teaching in the long life learning sector.
A full teaching role so this would be that they do everything, planning, organising the course it would be classed as a DTLLS Diploma in teaching in the lifelong learning sector also known as a PGCE/CertED.
